A maker develops this software uniquely and neither data offer of a data structure nor development cooperation is received from Canopus, Inc. of RexEdit development / sale origin. Therefore, I ask the inquiry about this software of a maker. Since it thinks when the interpretation method of a data structure is different, it may become impossible moreover, to use it with upgrade of RexEdit.
The author does not take any responsibility about any obstacles produced by having used this software, and breakage. Please use it in each one of responsibility. I recommend that I have it work after a dvc file takes backup.

DVCEX UE Version 1.04

This software can change the canopus ULTRA EDIT & Let's Edit project file (*. dvc : the Canopus project file) into a standard text file (*. txt : a non-formatted txt file). Changes can be made to the outputted txt file and it can be converted back into a dvc file again.

Converting a dvc file to a txt file

The Ultraedit software doesn't produce a readable or printable projectfile.
During a complicated editsession it can be difficult to determine which sourcefiles are actually used in the project. Unused sourcefiles can take up a lot of unnecessary diskspace.

It would be useful if one can see in a listed form all the sourcefiles currently used in a project.
Then, if needed the unused sourcefiles could be safely deleted from the harddisk.

The dvc file which contains references to non-existing sourcefiles cannot be opened.
Especially when working on larger project it is difficult to verify which files are actually used or not. Therefore a list of all files currently used in a project is very useful. This textfile can be used to check whether all the needed files are still available.

One might want to check a project frequently. It's sufficient to keep it in text form at such time. The past project can be checked immediately. On the list, a text, etc.

Converting a txt file into a dvc file

If a file is added or a part is replaced or when during a project sourcefiles are moved to other location (drives, folders) the dvc file is not updated. In this case one wants to be able to rearrange the data.

If a file is moved by Explorer or a folder name is changed, a link goes out and it becomes impossible then, to open a project.

Although the method of arranging a file through UltraEdit should keep the files linked to the project, there is a possibility that the layout of the dvc file is corrupted, which is quite troublesome. It is normally not possible to edit the projectfile.

It would be good, if a dvc file is outputted in text form, that one can edit it in accordance with the arrangement of data at that time and convert it back into a dvc file again.
Sourcefiles that have been moved to other locations, changes of filenames or foldernames can be easily edited once the project is available as a regular textfile.

Making a link change of the avi file etc. at another version uses this function, and it can be simplified.
For example, the list shows a sourcefile as:

D:\spring\demo001.avi

However the sourcefile is renamed and moved into:

E:\summer\movie.avi

If the texteditor has a search and replace function it becomes even easier by letting it search the file with D:\spring\*.* and replace all instances with E:\summer\movie.avi

When the necessity for change of a title character occurs and it has been used in many places, (provided it is the completely same character sequence) this can be done in the same way as described.

All these changes can be made after which the text file can be reconverted into a dvc file.

* Change of the outputted text file should be done with a general text editor. (so not Word or such, since these programs add additional codes)

On the list, a text, time distribution, etc. which were used in the used file name, the font name, and the title are described. A complete EDL-list is also outputted.

One can read the list of edits into spreadsheet software, or import it into database software to manage the source files. One can list all the source files currently used. At such time, let's make an EDL output into a Comma Separated Value. This can be done by saving the required portion of the outputted text file with the Extension csv.

This is also applicable for font sizes etc., these can also be changed collectively in a similar way.

find
File name reference of "the file which is not found"

When the file in a project has been eliminated or moved accidentally, RexEdit displays "a file is not found"  message, since the link to the file is broken. Although this is inconvenient when the project opens, it is frustrating if the file doesn't open at all.

If RexEdit would display the missing filenames one could remember them and create a temporary files with that name, unfortunately RexEdit doesn't do that. This will result in a project file that cannot be opened.

This function was made so that this problem can be solved.

By specifying and checking a dvc file, the file currently used in the project is compared with the file in a hard disk, and all "the file which is not found" are listed. A user is preparing the file or creating a temporary file of the same name, and can open a project now. Or one can first make a temporary text file of the dvc file, edit this and convert it back to a dvc file.

The listed file with un-referenced files is limited to 20 pieces. Usually, this should be enough, if not one can edit the dvc file (after converting it into a text file) and reconvert it into a dvc file if the limit of 20 is insufficient.
